Two days Comprehensive Sexuality Education Training held

Dang Ghorahi-15, Feb 7, 2022: Rural Women Development Center -RWDC-(Gramin Mahila Utthan Kendra) has organized two days of “Comprehensive Sexuality Education Training” for women participants in Dang Ghorahi -15 from February 6 to 7, 2022 at the conference hall of the RWDC.

A total of 47 women participants including 4 male participants have proactively taken part in the two days of comprehensive sexuality training. The women participants are represented by various women organizations active in the Dang district.

The two days training is technically supported by the Nepal Family Planning Dang district chapter, while the training is sponsored by the RWDC. The RWDC chairperson Aasmani Chaudhary inaugurated the two days training amidst a gathering held on 6th February after which the usual training sessions were initiated. Angad Bahadur Shahi -Chief of Dang district Public Health office was the chief guest on the occasion.

The two trainers from the Family Planning Dang district -Basanta Khanal and Shobha Kanta Adhikari -have facilitated the two days sessions turn by turn.

The two days training has dealt with various five theories, perceptions of sexuality and issues of reproductive health, values, and traditions of society related to sexuality, the notions of sexuality prevalent in the society, Sexual violence, respect for one another, and the need to get prevention. etc.

The training materials have given an opportunity to participants to open their sexuality-related problems and discuss them openly in the sessions to arrive at the conclusions and solutions at the end.

Although the two trainers are male, the women participants have openly come up with their problems of sexuality and discussed with the friends in the open floor. The training discussed violence against women in public places, in working offices, in schools, colleges, etc.

The sessions also discussed how to prevent violence against women or teenagers by avoiding the situation by saying no or by delaying the situations to prevent sexual violence situations in society.
