Interaction meeting with SPIL team held
Feb 23, 2024, Dang Ghorahi: The Rural Women Development Center organized a one-day interaction meeting of the RePLANT team with the Sidhartha Premier Insurance Ltd (SPIL) team at the City Plaza Hotel in Ghorahi on Feb 22, 2024.
A total of 15 participants including the branch officials of SPIL and the RePLANT project team participated in the program which focussed on Maize Crop Insurance in the upcoming days in Rapti Rural Municipality and Lamahi Municipality which are the project areas of this project.
The Program Coordinator Hit Bahadur Thapa first highlighted the main challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations to achieve the target in crop insurance.
This was followed by SPIL representative Santosh Pant’s presentation on Maize Crop Insurance and procedures to submit forms for crop insurance and claims to be made after crop losses due to fire, crop destruction by animals, and natural calamities.
The participants extensively participated in the formation of ideas to forge ahead with the upcoming ways to issue more insurance policies on maize in the Lamahi and Rapti areas with the support of Arbin Chaudhary through individual household visits, cooperatives, and group interactions.
iDE regional program coordinator Kalpana Dhital also made remarks about how to go about issuing more insurance policies on cereal crops and the need to coordinate and collaborate between the SPIL team and the RePLANT team.
The program was chaired by RWDC board member Madhava Pokharel. Insurance supervisor Arbin Chaudhary moderated the program while Parbati Basnet of RWDC welcomed the participants.
