27th Annual General Assembly of RWDC concludes
January 2, 2022: 27th Annual General Assembly of Rural Women Development Center-RWDC-(Gramin Mahila Uthan Kendra was held in Ghorahi-15 at Malla In amidst a program on January 1 2022. The General Assembly was presided over by the chairperson of the organization Asmani Chaudhary and the chief guest was Chandra Raj Pant, the outgoing coordinator of the civil society. Dang.Basundhara Gautam, vice president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Dang and Shogat Bir Chaudhary, the founding legal advisor of the organization were guests on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Pant thanked the organization for playing an important role for the transformation of the society and praised the work done at the community level on the issue of women empowerment. Similarly, speaking during the program, Basundhara Gautam, Vice President of the FNJ, Dang, appreciated the role of RWDC in the field of governance, transparency, policy advocacy, social accountability, public hearing and in creating jobs and social entrepreneurship among the rural women and poverty struck people. She also added that RWDC has also posed itself as an agency like opposition party to the ruling party in power at a time when the opposition party is passive by drawing the attention of the ruling government to various drawbacks and malpractices such as corruption across the nation. Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson of the organization Asmani Chaudhary said that the organization was established with the objective of creating a self reliant and empowered society. She said the RWDC will move further with the objective of creating more opportunities within the country for the youths who are migrating to foreign countries. Founding legal advisor Shogat Bir Chaudhary also narrated that how it was a hard nut to crack at the begging of establishing the organization. But, gradually, everything came into shape. At least 10 children belonging to poor families were given away educational materials including school bags and stationary. RWDC Board member Basanta Pun also announced on the occasion that she will sponsor the educational needs of Sajani Chaudhary’s in future. Susmita Chaudhary who has been working for the RWDC for the last five years has been awarded the best employee award during the program. Sarita Chaudhary, a RWDC secretary welcomed the participants of the assembly while Basanta Pun hosted the program. The other speakers from among the staff included Sushila Chaudhary, Nep Bahadur Chaudhary, Bhim Kant Chaudhary, Sushila Pun and HB Thapa. The first session of the general assembly ended with the concluding remarks of chair Aasmani Chaudhary. The second session commenced in the afternoon after RWDC board secretariat and board members were called upon to be seated in front of the participants. Then, the annual progress report and budget for 2077.078 was presented by Chair Aasmni Chaudhary which was passed by the participants by clapping hands. Chair Aasmani Chaudhary also talked about future strategic plans of the organization and announced that a fixed deposit of Rs one million will be set aside to give awards to the distinguishing persons or couple who contribute to women empowerment and social entrepreneurship in society.
